Bike enthusiasts in India now expect high power vehicles instead of economic vehicles that range below 200 cc in the motorcycle segment. TVS has been serving consumers with its economic as well high power and advanced integrated featured bikes such as Apache RTR. It has been in talks due to its unveiling of high displacement motorcycle Akula at one of the Auto Show in 2016. TVS Akula also shares its underpinning with BMW G310R as it is the result of the joint efforts made by the BMW Motorrad and TVS.
The bike might attract a huge crowd due to its carbon fiber body, which will be mounted on the trellis subframe. Based on the previous reputation of TVS that offers impressive handling, Akula 310 is also expected to maintain the status. The bike was spotted many times while testing but it was under a disguise due to unavailability of the detailed specification of the Akula 310. The fairing of the bike maintains the theme of the design precisely. The bike has twin projector headlights along with LED DRL. Below the headlight assembly, there is also an air scoop which can be either a simple cosmetic design or might play a crucial role in the distribution of air for enhanced engine cooling.
The handlebars aren’t too low which may deliver a relaxed riding position for the rider. Coming on to the suspension, it is assembled with 41 mm diameter upside down fork that is installed in BMW G310R. The size of the front tire is 110/70 and 150/60 at the rear. TVS Akula 310 will be the flagship model and it is for sure that ABS feature will remain standard. The exhaust system is designed identically to BMW G310R and meets the terms of BSIV norms. Another elegant looking feature of Akula is its LED taillight that somehow reminds us the devil horn.
Emphasizing on its power plant, the TVS Akula will be powered by 313 cc engine, which has the capacity to generate 34 PS at 9,500 rpm. The fuel injected engine is integrated with a 6-speed gearbox.
Relying on the sources, it can be predicted that the TVS Akula might be launched in coming months. If TVS launches the vehicle with the right price, it may come out as a strong rival for KTM Series
